VASTU/FENG SHUI CORNER

 I have a background in interior decoration and enjoy learning more about it.  Many of my clients have requirements around Feng Shui and Vastu and there are a lot of common elements and principles between these ancient arts and what is taught with interior decoration in school I have learnt and enjoyed talking to my clients who have shared some of the Feng Shui tips with me and I hope you will find it enjoyable and useful as well. 

THE COLORS

1         Red: Red is stimulating and dominating; it reduces the size of the room and increases the size of the objects.  It is useful as an accent color. 

2         Yellow: Yellow is associated with enlightenment and intellect, it stimulates the brain and aids in digestion.  Its positive qualities are optimism; reason and decisiveness, while it's negative are craftiness, exaggeration and rigidity.  Suitable for hallways and kitchens, but not for meditation rooms or bathrooms.

3         Green: Green symbolizes growth, fertility and harmony, it is restful and refreshing.  It positive associations are optimism, freedom balance and its negatives envy and deceit.  good in therapy rooms, conservatories and bathroom but not in family rooms, playrooms, or studies.

4         Blue: blue is peaceful and soothing and is linked with spirituality, contemplation, mystery and patience.  Its positive associations are trust, faithfullness and stability.  Negatives are suspicious and melancholia.  blue can be used in meditation rooms,bedrooms,therapy rooms and as a means of enlarging spaces, but not in family rooms, dining rooms and studies.

5         Purple: Encouraging vitality, purple is impressive, dignified and spiritual.  Positive association are excitment,passion and motivation,negitives are mournfulness and force.  Use in bedrooms and meditation rooms but not bathrooms and kitchens.

6         Pink: Pink is linked with purity of thoughts and has the positive associations of happiness and romance with no negatives.  Suitable for bedroom but not kitchens or bathrooms.

7         Orange: a powerful and cheerful color,orange encourages communication.  Its positive qualities are happyness,concentration and intellect,and its negative is rebelliousness.  Use in living or dining room and hallways, but not in small rooms or bedrooms.

8         Brown: Brown suggests stability and weight.  Its positives are safety and elegance, while its negatives are dinginess, depression and aging,.  Good for studies but not for bedrooms.

9         White: White symbolizes new begining,purity and innocents.  Its positive qualities are cleanliness and freshness, it negative cold,lifeness,strakness.  Use for bathrooms and kitchens, not suitable for children's rooms and dining rooms.

10     black: Black is mysterious and independent.  Its positive qualities are intrigue, strength and allure, while it's negative are death.  darkness and evil.  It should not be used in young children's room,studies or living rooms.

ENERGIZING OUR HOMES:

1 Burning aromatic oils or incense raises the energy in a room.

2. Candles in the corner and centre of a room will help move any stuck energy.

3. An enhancer for any space that will  nurture the supportive energy in any home is a feature which represents all five elements. Fill a glass or crystal bowl (earth) with blue glass beads (Earth and Water), fill up with water and float a red candle (Fire) and some flowers or petals (wood).  Add metal coins (Metal) to complete the cycle.

4 Tie three chines coins together with red thread or ribbon and place them in the back of your account book for good luck.

 

ANIMALS AND FLOWERS

  1. Gold Fish: Fish are considered to be very auspicious in china where they are kept to attract wealth to the household.
  2. 2. Elephant: Elephant is a symbol of great wisdom.  Elephant is also associated with great strength.  Elephant can be placed in your weakest sector to strengthen and protect it from marauders.
  3. Lotus: Beloved of Buddha.  The lotus is a beautiful flower symbol of creation and of renewal and of the search for enlightment.
  4. Bamboo: Bamboo is a symbol of an ability to move with the times and bend with the prevailing wind.
